Shady areas of woodlands and copses are particularly important in habitat creation. Inspiration is all around us, oceanic and continental forests are rich in species from undercover layers to small and large shrubs.
Designing with these species requires us to provide shade and/or sufficient water. Selecting these species is often useful in sustainable urban drainage and precipitation management as they often require more water for growth.
